Here what we spent in 29 days travelling Indonesia

Indonesia is one of our favourite destinations for a few reasons but one of those is just how cheap it is. We spent majority of our time in Bali but also visited the island of Lombok and Gili T. We have previously spent time here in Indonesia but our last trip was 29 days so here is a complete breakdown of exactly what we spent in 29 days whilst travelling in Indonesia.

Accommodation: $795.42

Things to consider: we almost always opt for the cheapest accomodation option and in Indonesia we typically spent around $20-$30/night and this often included breakfast.

Food: $1667.40

Things to consider: your food bill will vary completely based on your preferences. Indonesia has some incredibly cheap street food options that are delicious and will set you back $2-$3/meal. On the other hand there are a plethora of trendy westernised cafes that serve up some of the best food we have eaten and compared to Australian prices they are still cheap costing roughly $8-$15/meal.

Experiences: $224.21

Things to consider: we are not big tour people, we much prefer to explore a place ourselves, however, this included a fishing tour, snorkelling, surfboard rental and a few massages.

Travel: $652.94

Things to consider: This price does not include our flights. It is motorbike rental, taxis and our boat crossings from Bali to Lombok and Gili T.

Laundry: $14.66

Things to consider: laundry is based on weight so obviously it will depend on how much clothing you are washing.

Shopping: $86.95

Things to consider: we are full time travellers so if it docent fit in our backpack we can't have it so we don't do much shopping. This amount is mostly art supplies for our daughter and a toy here and there.

Bank Fees: $0

Things to consider: We bank with ING so we do NOT incur any international fees for using our card and we receive 4 free ATM withdrawals per month and after that it is $5.

Flights: $675.39

Things to consider: We are a family of 3 and we always book the cheapest flight available. This flight was from Singapore to Indonesia and the reason its a little high is we had to pay to change our dates.

Visa: $148.33

Things to consider: This amount covers 30 days in Indonesia for 3 people.

Medical: $0

That brings our grand total for 29 days of travelling in Indonesia to $4265.30. This was our second time visiting Indonesia but or first time tracking our budget. We came in $954.70 under budget but we were travelling with friends so could have definitely stuck to a stricter budget if it were just us 3 but its way more fun to travel with mates.

I hope this budget breakdown helps you plan for your next Indonesia trip. If you have any questions shoot me a DM - @lifeofatravelfamily

I found the monthly Indonesia spending breakdown very realistic because travel budgeting is often harder than expected. I remember planning a student trip while using write my assignment to keep my academic work under control. It shows how smart budgeting can make longer travel experiences less stressful and more enjoyable. It showed me how self care matters. It helped me understand large projects better. Nice post . Your post make me smile.

I really enjoyed reading this breakdown—it's refreshing to see such an honest and detailed look at travel costs in Indonesia, especially since many people underestimate how flexible budgets can be depending on lifestyle choices. The fact that you managed a full month for around $4,265 for a family of three really highlights how affordable destinations like Bali and Lombok can be when you balance local experiences with occasional splurges . I also appreciate how you explained each category, as it makes it relatable for anyone planning a similar trip. As a student juggling travel dreams with deadlines, content like this feels as valuable as finding Affordable Assignment Assistance in the UK—it just makes life easier to plan and manage! Your…

I like this post because it gives a very clear and honest breakdown of what a full month in Indonesia really costs, especially how transport can end up being more expensive than expected. It’s helpful to see real numbers for things like food, stays, and daily spending which can average around €40 to €50 per person per day . I remember planning a trip during exams and used assignment writing help at that time to manage both travel plans and study work. It showed me how planning ahead really makes everything smoother.
